The Right to Information Officer of the Ekumfi District Assembly, Mr. Danny Ralph Opoku-Mensah in collaboration with the Director of NCCE, Mrs. Cecilia Dam had a sensitisation program with the Obama College to educate them on their right and obligations under the Right to Information law (Act 989).
The exercise took place on Wednesday, April 5, 2023.
The Officer took time to explain to the students the RTI Act. The session was very interactive, which allowed the students to ask questions and share opinions concerning the Act.
Some of the students wanted to know why some informations cannot be given out even though the Law has given us the right to information. The Officer in his response explained that even though a person has the right to information, the RTI Act has placed some informations under exemptions and hence cannot go out
The Head Teacher of the school expressed his appreciation for such education and pledged their commitment to work within the remit of Act 989 so as to contribute their bit to the smooth implementation of the law.
