The Ekumfi District Assembly has officially handed over the site for the construction of a two-storey building to serve as a new district police station for the Ghana Police Service at Essarkyir.
The site possession ceremony, held on Thursday, April 23, 2026, brought together key stakeholders, including the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ekumfi, Ishmaeel Nana Asamoah; the Ekumfi District Police Commander, ASP Anthony Glagoh; the District Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) Director, Bill Kwakye; and the contractor, Kwabena Oppong of ODELL PRESTIGE LTD. Also present were the District Works Engineer, District Planner, and other officials from the Ekumfi District Assembly.
The project forms part of efforts to improve security infrastructure within the district and provide a more suitable working environment for personnel of the Ghana Police Service. The construction of the two-storey facility is expected to enhance policing operations, improve service delivery, and strengthen law enforcement efforts in the area.
Speaking at the ceremony, officials highlighted the importance of collaboration between the District Assembly and security agencies in addressing the infrastructural needs of the district.
The contractor, Kwabena Oppong of ODELL PRESTIGE LTD., received the site and is expected to commence construction works following the formal handover.
The District Assembly expressed its commitment to supporting projects that promote public safety, development, and improved access to essential services for residents. The new district police station, when completed, is expected to serve as a major boost to security operations in Essarkyir and surrounding communities within the Ekumfi District.
