Ekumfi District Director of Agriculture Presents Planting for Food and Jobs Phase II Program

The Director of Agriculture on April 16 addressed staff and assembly members in the Ekumfi District, unveiling the exciting opportunities of the Planting for Food and Jobs Phase II (PFJ 2.0) Program.

The presentation highlighted the strategic objectives and interventions that are set to enhance agricultural productivity, ensuring food security and building resilience within a five-year timeline. According to the Director, the PFJ 2.0 initiative aims to strengthen the agricultural sector through targeted interventions that address key challenges and foster growth. One of the major emphases of the program is the abundant arable land available in the district, which presents vast opportunities for crop production.

The Director encouraged farmers to take full advantage of the fertile soils in the area, which are ideal for cultivating a wide variety of crops. By doing so, farmers can not only boost their incomes but also create numerous job opportunities across the agricultural value chain. A critical part of the PFJ 2.0 strategy includes the provision of significant support to farmers, particularly through the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA).

The Director highlighted that MoFA will be supplying 4.5 million day-old chicks, vaccines, and starter-pack feed to anchor farmers and their out growers across the country. This initiative aims to boost poultry production, contributing to increased self-sufficiency in Ghana's agricultural sector.
