Environmental Health Unit Conducts Medical Screenings for Food/Drink Vendors in Ekumfi District

In a bid to ensure food safety and protect public health, the Environmental Health Unit of the Ekumfi District has organized comprehensive medical screenings for food and drink vendors.

The initiative aims to prevent the spread of diseases through food and beverage consumption by assessing the health status of vendors and educating them on hygiene practices. Vendors undergo thorough health checks, including screenings for infectious diseases like hepatitis and typhoid fever, which can be transmitted through contaminated food and water.

Additionally, screenings for conditions such as skin infections and gastrointestinal disorders are conducted to ensure vendors are fit to handle food safely. Alongside the screenings, vendors receive training on proper food handling procedures and sanitation measures to maintain cleanliness and prevent contamination.

This collaborative effort between the Environmental Health Unit and community stakeholders demonstrates a commitment to prioritizing public health and safety. By conducting regular medical screenings and promoting food safety practices within the community, authorities aim to create a safer environment for consumers and reduce the risk of foodborne illnesses.
